As you’ve likely read around the Internet, Apple has trademarked the name ‘iWatch’ in various jurisdictions around the world. This could mean than an Apple iWatch is forthcoming, but it could also be a defensive move, with Apple using the tactics of disinformation as seen in the Swordfish movie to distract from whatever Apple’s real deal ends up being.
To add to the mystery comes last week’s report from Reuters that the CEO of fashion label Yves Saint Laurent, M’sieu Paul Deneve, has defected from YSL and joined Apple’s ranks, reporting directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook for what is cleverly obfuscated as “special projects”.
Fascinatingly, Mr Deneve previously worked at Apple Europe between 1990 and 1997 in sales and marketing roles, so if there was to be an executive responsible for any upcoming iWatch, Mr Deneve would seem to be the man for the job.
Mysteriousness is Apple’s middle name, however, so we’ll just have to wait a bit longer to find out what the truth truly is, although as the X Files people always told us… the truth is out there. It’ll be truly exciting to find out!
